Braces are still the most popular teeth straightening therapy for a reason: they consistently correct both simple and complex misalignments, allowing orthodontists to address complex disorders relatively easily in patients of all ages.
Traditional braces are no longer the only orthodontic treatment option. We’ll go through the ins and outs of standard braces treatment to see if it’s an ideal option for you. At Vita Dentistry in North York, ON, we want our patients to know which orthodontic option suits their specific needs.
Benefits of Traditional Braces
- Incredibly Effective: Braces are the most effective teeth-straightening procedure, capable of addressing a wide range of dental and jaw misalignments from minor to severe.
- Versatility: Attachments and appliances can be added to braces to help with more complicated tooth movements.
- Professional Application: During routine visits with an orthodontist, braces are constantly evaluated.
- Always On: Braces continually work on your teeth! You don’t have to think about taking them off and putting them back on.
How Traditional Braces Work
Our traditional braces at Vita Dentistry use brackets and wires to produce highly complicated tooth movements. Our dentist will attach a small metal bracket to the front of each tooth with dental bonding then connect them with an archwire.
We will then tighten this wire to apply gentle, constant pressure to your teeth and gums. This pressure gradually adjusts the teeth to their new positions over time, most often within two years.
What Results Do Traditional Braces Provide?
Traditional braces remain on your teeth until they achieve the correct result, culminating in a completely straight smile at the end of your treatment. It could take up to two years. At the end of treatment, your teeth will have relocated efficiently and easily, giving you a whole new grin.
You’ll need to wear a retainer all day for a few months after your treatment is finished and longer at night. The retainer prevents your teeth from slipping back and necessitating additional treatment.
